JSRA Double Header This Weekend

jsra-logo-transWith the 2016/2017 Junior Speedway Racing Association (JSRA) season in full swing, this weekend will be the biggest of the season so far, with a double header on Friday and Saturday nights.

On Friday, Round 2 of the JSRA Metropolitan Series will fire into action at the Perth Motorplex, as part of the Shannons Fast Racing Series, with a field of 18 Ellement Produce Junior Sedans entered for what should be a sensational night of racing.

Izak Davies headlines the field of Top Stars, after dominating the first round of this series. The ever consistent Jacob Potts will be looking to record his first victory of the season, as will Jackson Derrick, Ashley Baker, Blake Webb and Alex Swift. Jayke Malcolm will make his first visit to the venue for the season and will be hoping for some more luck than he has had so far this season.

In the New Stars, Bryden Southwell will look to continue his domination, however has Tia Wormall, Jade McKeagg, Jae Noonan and Geraldton’s Luke Malcolm also looking to steal the top step of the podium.

13988251_1081826608570498_4826323605500784604_oThe JSRA will then travel to Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway on Saturday night, for Round 3 of the JSRA Country Super Series supported by Eyerite Signs. With two top quality fields entered in both the New and Top Star divisions, it promises to be another great night of Junior Sedan action

Eight New Stars will take to the Great Southern venue, with Bryden Southwell, Luke Malcolm and Montana Pack hoping to again figure prominently. Jhy Pack, Brody Day and local hero’s Hope Batchelor, Bianca Kennedy and Mitchell Claybrook will also look to steal top honours in front of their home crowd.

Eighteen Top Star Junior Sedans will look forward to returning to the Attwell Park venue on Saturday night, with Kalgoorlie’s Jacob Potts hoping to continue his consistent runs this season, as will Blake Webb, Seth Hinsey and Jackson Derrick.

The Fraser family will be in full force this weekend, with brothers Alex and Tyler Fraser making their first starts of the season, while cousin Bronty will look to continue her great start to the season in the Top Stars and will be hoping to end the night as top of the Fraser family.

Jake Avins will return to the series this weekend, with a newly rebuilt car after sustaining major damage in a rollover at Narrogin Speedway just three weeks ago. A huge congratulations must go to the Avins Racing team for such a quick turn around ahead of this weekend’s round of the series.

Be sure to keep an eye on Peter Katona, Rahni Musarra, Blake Fletcher, Chantelle Bate, Daniel Erceg, Jorj Park, Izak Davies who will make his country series debut and home town hero, Brooke Watson, all of whom will be looking for a successful night on the track.

A big thank you to the Watson Family from Eyerite Signs for supporting this round of the JSRA Country Super Series and the Albany Speedway for once again holding a round of the series.

Racing gets underway from 6pm, so be sure to make your way to Albany this weekend or head to Junior Speedway Racing Association – JSRA on Facebook and jsrawa.com for live results and all details on WA Junior Sedan Racing.

Dramatic End in Narrogin

13988251_1081826608570498_4826323605500784604_oRound 2 of the JSRA Country Super Series has ended in dramatic fashion at Makit Hardware Narrogin Speedway last night, with the final events for both New and Top Stars having to be abandoned as the 11pm Junior driver curfew hit.

The night began with some extremely hard and fast racing from both divisions of Junior Sedans, which continued throughout the night. Bryden Southwell, Jhy Pack, Montana Pack and Brody Day fought hard in the New Star field, with Southwell taking the victory in each of the heat races. Narrogin local, Brody Day raced hard with the Pack siblings, while Isabella Freeland made her series debut and completed all races, getting quicker with each race, as did Bryce Fisher.

A field of twenty Top Star Junior Sedans converged on the Upper Great Southern Venue, with Jake Avins and Dylan Parkes making the best possible start to their night, winning their opening heat races in a dominant way. Throughout the fields, the Junior Sedans raced three and even four wide on some occasions, providing some top quality speedway action for the large number of spectators on hand.

Dylan Parkes and Peter Katona would win heats three and four of the night, with Parkes once again beating the field in a dominant fashion, it looked as if he would be the driver to beat throughout the night. Jacob Potts, Blake Webb and Jackson Derrick were having a solid night of racing, finishing towards the front of the field in each of their races.

The final heats of the night saw Kalgoorlie’s Dylan Parkes win his third heat of the night, while Jacob Potts would triumph in the final heat of the night. This wasn’t without its issues, which saw an incident occur on the opening lap resulting in Collie’s Jake Avins rolling numerous times in turn 2. The red lights came on and ambulance personal completed precautionary checks on the infield.

The race was able to be completed, before the ambulance was called to Jake Avins again. With complaints of neck and back pain, Avins was placed in the ambulance and transferred to the Narrogin Hospital for further scans. After a few hours, JSRA officials, drivers and families were glad to hear that no major injury had been sustained and Jake was free to head home. We hope to see Jake back on the track as soon as possible.

As we waited for an ambulance to return, the 11pm curfew for Junior competitors was reached, meaning no more racing was able to take place for the Junior Sedans. As a result, Round 2 of the JSRA Country Super Series was decided on heat race points meaning Bryden Southwell won the New Star Juniors from Montana Pack and Brody Day. Dylan Parkes would take out the Top Star Junior Sedans from Jacob Potts who finished second yet again, showing how consistent he has been in the early part of this season, while Jackson Derrick had a great night to finish third.

The JSRA must thank the Narrogin Speedway Club for their efforts in trying to run the full Junior Sedan program, the Narrogin Volunteer St John Ambulance Personal and everyone who made this event possible.

Attention will now turn to Round 2 of the JSRA Metropolitan Junior Sedan Series at Perth Motorplex on Friday November 25th, the beginning of a huge weekend of Junior Sedan action, with Round 3 of the JSRA Country Super Series the following night at Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway on Saturday November 26th.

Davies Too Strong

shannons-fast-racing-series-logoBullsbrook’s Izak Davies has scored the biggest win of his Junior Sedan Career to date, winning last night’s Round 1 of the JSRA Metropolitan Junior Sedan Series for Top Star Junior Sedans at the Perth Motorplex.

With a field of 8 Top Star Junior Sedans set to battle at the Perth Motorplex for the first time this season, nerves were high amongst the competitors, however Izak Davies would settle the nerves, winning all three of the heat races throughout the night. The battle for positions behind him, was as always, top quality with the remaining 7 competitors duelling throughout the three heat races.

When it came to the final, Kalgoorlie’s Jacob Potts would make a great jump and would lead for the early proceedings, before Izak Davies began to apply immense pressure. Davies soon started to make his move on the inside of Potts who wouldn’t be denied with the duo racing side by side for a number of laps. Geraldton’s Ashley Baker sat in third and began to close the gap between himself and the leaders.

As the race came into it’s concluding stages, Jacob Potts had cleared out in the lead before running wide in sight of the white flag. Davies would cease the opportunity and from here, would run away to go through the night undefeated, earning him valuable points to start the season. Jacob Potts would hold on from Ashley Baker for second, while Jackson Derrick fought through the field for fourth.

In the New Stars, Bryden Southwell proved too strong throughout the entire night, defeating Jade McKeagg in each of the heat races and in the final.

Final Results:
Top Star Junior Sedan Final: 1. W95 Izak Davies, 2. W81 Jacob Potts, 3. W10 Ashley Baker, 4. W27 Jackson Derrick, 5. W108 Blake Webb, 6. W29 Mitchell Bosveld, 7. W13 Blake Fletcher DNS: W11 Jake Avins

Series Starts with a Bang!

logoThe Junior Speedway Racing Association (JSRA) 2016/2017 season kicked off last night at the Kalgoorlie International Speedway in what was a brilliant spectacle of Junior Sedan Racing.

With a field of five New Star drivers taking to the track for the Hydroblasing Kalgoorlie Round 1 of the JSRA Country Super Series, Luke Malcolm and Lachlan Dellar set the pace early in proceedings winning a heat race each to begin the night. Brother and sister duo of Jhy and Montana Pack continued their strong rivalry from the Winter season and raced hard throughout the heat races. Luke Malcolm would be the first driver to record a second heat win in the third and final qualifying heat before the 15 lap final.

When the final got underway, Malcolm and Dellar continued their battle into turns 1 and 2. Lachlan Dellar would lose ground after making a small mistake, allowing Luke Malcolm to sprint away from the field. Montana Pack took over the running of second place as Dellar and Jhy Pack battled for the minor places. Tilly Leonard also raced hard throughout the night, getting quicker and quicker with every lap. When the checkered flag flew, it was Luke Malcolm who proved too strong for Montana Pack and Lachlan Dellar.

As we have come to expect, the Top Star Junior Sedan did not disappoint the crowd on hand in Kalgoorlie and those listening at home. Blake Webb and Kalgoorlie local Dylan Parkes stamped their authority on the field winning their first two heat races of the night, before Collie’s Seth Hinsey showed he would be a series threat this season, winning his final heat race of the night. Blake Webb would win the final heat of the night and go through to the final undefeated to start on pole position for the 20 lap final.

With 20 grueliing laps ahead, the Top Star Junior Sedan drivers faught hard into turns 1 and 2, with Dylan Parkes getting the upper hand. Jake Avins, Blake Webb and Jackson Derrick would fight for the minor places, while Jacob Potts faught hard with Jayke Malcolm after falling back through the field on the first lap. Throughout the field, there were a number of drivers racing in close proximity with the crowd on watching on eagerly. As the laps wound down, the race continued to excite as the leading drivers raced hard for positions and began racing through lapped traffic. The race went 14 laps without a stoppage before Daniel Erceg found himself facing the wrong way in turn 2.

The field now closed up for a nose to tail restart, with Dylan Parkes leading away from the restart for a small time as Jake Avins made his move in turn 1, moving underneath Parkes and taking the lead. Dylan Parkes then dropped back behind Jacob Potts who moved into second place and started to look for the lead as the leading trio raced three wide. Blake Webb now started to make his move on Dylan Parkes who ran wide coming out of turn 4.

As the white flag came out, Jacob Potts tried his best to make a pass, however Jake Avins would hold on and take the first round victory of the series ahead of Jacob Potts, Blake Webb, Dylan Parkes and Blake Fletcher. A post race relegation would see Blake Webb relegated 2 positions for contact during the race, elevating Dylan Parkes to third position and Blake Fletcher to fourth.

Congratulations to all of the Junior Sedan drivers would raced hard and fast throughout the night, with many senior drivers commenting on how much they enjoyed the junior sedan racing throughout the night.

The JSRA must also thank Kalgoorlie International Speedway for holding the opening round of the JSRA Country Super Series and Allen and Michelle from Hydroblasting Kalgoorlie for their massive support of this round.

Attention will now turn to Round 1 of the Metropolitan Series, which coincides with the Shannons Fast Racing Series event at Perth Motorplex on October 29th. The next JSRA Country Super Series round will be at Makit Hardware Narrogin Speedway on Saturday November 5th.

New Website Revealed

The Junior Speedway Racing Association (JSRA) are extremely excited to reveal our new website, developed by Sean McManus at Sean McManus Web Development (SMWD).

We cannot thank Sean enough for the effort he has put into developing a new website for the JSRA in a short time frame. This website will be the first point of call for many Junior Speedway fans to find the latest information on the JSRA and Junior Sedan Racing in Western Australia. Our website will have many photos from events that take place throughout the season and will allow our members to nominate for JSRA Country Super Series events.

Our website is easily accessed by JSRA Officials and will be continually updated to ensure all information is up to date as the season progresses.

Once again, a massive thank you to Sean at SMWD for all of his work and support of the JSRA. We hope everyone enjoys looking around our new website and we are of course open to your feedback on how we can improve it for the future.
