The third round of the JSRA Metro Series gets underway this Saturday night at the Perth Motorplex as drivers compete in the City of Kwinana Cup!

An almost identical field of cars have nominated for this weekend’s showdown, with only one car from the first round not running.

Heading the field is of course the WA Champion Blake Iwanow who won the opening night feature and has so far swept all before him in Junior Sedan competition this season. He also leads the Perth Motorplex Track Championship and comes into this weekend’s showdown as a red hot favourite.

Kayne Dellar did all he could to get past Iwanow at the last show but couldn’t quite pull it off, finishing second in every race. Dellar has shown that he has the speed to match it with Iwanow and with a little bit of luck, could elevate himself onto the top step of the podium this Saturday night.

Bryden Southwell finished third in all the heat races at the last Motorplex show before being credited with fifth place in the opening feature to be sitting third overall in the Track Championship. Again a competitor who has shown much car speed over recent shows, Southwell could be one to watch come feature time.

Chloe Dellar broke through for a third place finish in the last show and would love to repeat that this Saturday, while Izak Davies and Jasmine Arnold round out the Top Star fields and are hopeful of recording strong results.

Brock Lake and Olivia Earle are the sole New Stars nominated for this weekend, but after a great battle in all races at the last show, can be expected to pick up right where they left off this weekend.

It will be another great show for the division and the Junior Sedans will get three six lap heats prior to their ten lap feature, with the first race scheduled to be held at 5.30pm, so make sure you are at the track early!

Tonight at the Perth Motorplex Blake Iwanow reset the record books on his way to claiming yet another feature win this year.

Iwanow was all class all night, claiming three heat wins from three starts and despite setting a new one lap and six lap record in the second heat, didn’t have it all his own way as Kayne Dellar stepped up and really took it to the State Champion.

Courtesy of his three heat wins, Iwanow would start from pole position in the ten lap feature with Dellar on his outside and as the green flag flew Iwanow went straight to the lead hotly pursued by Dellar who came within a sniff in the third heat, while third placed Bryden Southwell was further back. 

Dellar simply would not give up as he doggedly pursued Iwanow, but could not quite close the gap on Iwanow enough to make a passing maneuver.

Even going three wide through traffic didn’t slow Iwanow down, in fact, he judged it so well that while Dellar got caught up, he went from a tiny gap in the lead to be nearly three seconds ahead with three laps to go. 

Shortly after, the yellows would come on as Olivia Earle found herself facing the wrong way on the back straight, bunching up the field for a restart with three laps to go.

On the restart Dellar went low and drew alongside Iwanow, but Iwanow continued to use the mid track line and maintained his lead once again, racing away and claiming the win, his third at the Motorplex venue, ahead of Kayne Dellar and Chloe Dellar who despite crossing the line in fifth, was advanced to third after Bryden Southwell and Izak Davies were each relegated at the conclusion of the race.

The New Stars only had a small field and would race in with the Top Stars, Brock Lake eventually getting the biccies over Olivia Earle while Locky Comley, in just his third ever race meeting, made heavy contact with the front straight wall in the opening heat and would take no further part in the evenings proceedings.

The JSRA are back in action next weekend with the first round of the Country Series to be held at Moora Speedway on the 9^thof November, and with solid nominations already received, it should be another good show.
