Juniors Deliver in Moora

JSRA COUNTRY SUPER SERIES - R5Round 5 of the JSRA Country Super Series held at Moora Speedway last night has seen some of the best Junior Sedan racing you will see throughout the country. The True Value Hardware, Moora sponsored event attracted thirteen New Stars and twenty Top Stars, which alone set the scene for a great night.

Geraldton racer, Rory Elsum-Beaumont started the New Star night off in the best possible fashion, recording the first victory of the night. Luke Malcolm, who was undefeated at the Perth Motorplex on Friday finished strong and closed the gap between himself and the leader, while Bryden Southwell charged through the field to finish third.

Bryden Southwell and Luke Malcolm would battle for positions for the rest of the night, with Southwell getting the upper hand of Malcolm to win heat two. Brother and sister duo of Montana and Jhy Pack returned to the track and started to make their mark on the competition.

Local racers, Alec, Taj and Connor Vanzetti also made their mark on the competition, charging towards the front in each race. Luke Malcolm would make a fantastic pass to get passed Bryden Southwell in the concluding stages of the race to record the win by the smallest of margins.

When it came to the night’s final, Southwell and Malcolm soon made their way to the front of the field, as Rory Elsum-Beaumont fell back a number of positions. Montana and Jhy Pack continued to get quicker and quicker and started to catch the leading duo. Alec Vanzetti had a drama early on in the race and fell back through the field.

The yellow lights would soon come on for a spun car, as the field was lined up for a restart. This would be short lived, as another car spun and the yellow lights would come on yet again.

In the concluding stages of the race, Luke Malcolm continued to lead from Bryden Southwell, Jhy and Montana Pack, as Alec Vanzetti moved his way through the field and now started to put up a charge to the leaders. Vanzetti would soon find a way past Jhy and Montana Pack and would cross the line to finish third behind race winner Luke Malcolm and Bryden Southwell.

With a quality field of Top Star Junior Sedans nominated, the racing was of the highest standard. Local Moora racer Jessica Staines started the night off with a commanding victory over Jake Avins and Seth Hinsey. Jorj Park would take the win in the second heat of the night ahead of a very quick Jackson Derrick who debuted a new car and Morawa driver Peter Katona.

The third heat of the night would see a strong contingent of lady drivers taking to the track, with Stefani Ameduri working her way to the front to win the heat ahead of Albany’s Brooke Watson and Corey Ameduri. Jorj Park would win his second heat of the night in heat four ahead of a very quick Jake Avins and Ashley Baker.

Jake Avins and Jorj Park would be victorious in the final heats of the night, which would earn them a front row starting position for the 20 lap feature to come.

With 20 laps ahead of the field of 20 cars, Jorj Park and Jake Avins raced side by side for the first lap, before Avins could break free. This would be short lived as Jorj Park returned serve and took the lead from Avins. Further back in the field, there were numerous cars battling for minor positions, including Rahni Musarra who had to charge from the rear of the field.

The race soon came to a stop with Tylar Main stopping on the back straight. He would ultimately retire from the event at this point with a flat tyre. When the race got back underway, the battle out in front resumed, as Ashley Baker started to apply the pressure in third position.

Stefani Ameduri and Jackson Derrick soon made their way through the field and battled it out for the minor positions in their Hyundai Excels. With Jake Avins now leading, he started to extend his lead before a car spun in front of him, leaving our leading with no where to go.

Avins would lead the field away at the restart, though Jorj Park would not give up from this point. At this point, the drivers at the back had a coming together, which sent cars all over the track and would see Jackson Derrick retire from the event with serious damage to his car. Jorj Park was trying hard to make some ground on the leaders, when he span in front of the field with just two laps remaining.

With one lap to go, Stefani Ameduri would not be denied, closing the gap between herself and leader, Jake Avins. As the field came towards the finish line, Jake Avins would defeat Stefani Ameduri by the smallest of margins ahead of a gallant Stefani Ameduri and Peter Katona.

Once again, the JSRA extends a great thank you to Peter from True Value Hardware, Moora for his support of this Round of the JSRA Country Super Series.

Attention now turns to the 2017 edition of the Australasian Championships, which will see six drivers and their families head to New Zealand on Thursday to compete in the ultra popular Ministock category. We wish our drivers all the best of luck and will ensure everyone is kept up to date via our JSRA Facebook page.

The next round of the JSRA Country Super Series will be on March 11th at Quit Collie Speedway, a popular venue for many Junior Sedan racers in WA. Be sure to nominate via the nominations page on the JSRA website jsrawa.com

Top Start for Derrick and Malcolm

Jackson Derrick and Luke Malcolm have made the best possible start to a big weekend of Junior Sedan racing, claiming Round 4 of the JSRA Metropolitan Junior Sedan Series for Top and New Stars at the Perth Motorplex last night.

The Top Star field saw seven drivers nominated for the event, though only five would start the first heat, as Blake and Tanika Webb awaited the arrival of their cars. Jake Avins on board the Armstrong Motorsport Daihatsu Charade made the best possible start to the night, claiming the opening heat.

Jackson Derrick would work his way through the field in the second heat, downing a gallant Izak Davies and Jake Avins. Avins would return fire in the third heat, defeating a fast finishing Jackson Derrick and Mitchell Bosveld.

For the final event of the night, Avins and Derrick would start on the front row and raced hard for the initial phase of the race. Izak Davies, Mitchell Bosveld and Blake Webb would battle for the minor places, with Beau Doyle and Tanika Webb following behind.

Jackson Derrick would soon make his assault on the race lead, finding a way past Jake Avins to take the lead after a number of laps trying. From here, Derrick wouldn’t be headed and drove to the checkered flag to take the round victory ahead of a fast finishing Blake Webb and Jake Avins.

In the New Star division, Geraldton’s Luke Malcolm would have a night to remember, going through the night undefeated. His night wasn’t without its fair share of issues though, getting caught up in a couple of incidents that could have ultimately ended his night.

Bryden Southwell finished a gallant second in each of the races, having a number of close battles with Malcolm throughout the heat races and in the final. Lady racers, Tia Wormall and Jade McKeagg would jostle for the minor positions throughout the night, though Wormall would follow Malcolm and Southwell home for third in the final.

Attention will now turn to Round 5 of the JSRA Country Super Series at Moora Speedway from 6pm tonight, with two big fields of Junior Sedans nominated for the event. All the action will be brought to you by True Value Hardware Moora, with updates on the JSRA Facebook page and website throughout the night.

Jackson Derrick, Mitchell Bosveld, Izak Davies and Blake Webb have all stood on the podium at the Perth Motorplex this year and will hope to repeat this on the high banks tomorrow night.

The two lady racers in the New Star field, Jade McKeagg and Tia Wormall have shown what they’re capable of already this season and will no doubt take it right to the boys in a battle for the round victory.

JSRA Returns this Weekend!

jsra-logo-transThe Junior Speedway Racing Association fires back into action after two long months with two huge nights of racing this weekend.

With Round 4 of the JSRA Metropolitan Series at the Perth Motorplex on Friday night, followed by Round 5 of the JSRA Country Super Series at Moora Speedway, this weekend promises to be yet another exciting weekend of Junior Sedan action.

Nominations close tomorrow evening for Friday’s Metro Series event, though drivers will be looking to gain some valuable points with only two rounds of the series remaining. A full list of drivers will be released when nominations close.

Saturday night’s Country Super Series event at Moora Speedway will be proudly sponsored by True Value Hardware, Moora and has attracted two sensational fields of Junior Sedans.  With 12 New Stars and 23 Top Stars entered for the event, the JSRA return to Moora Speedway promises to be fantastic.

The New Star field is headlined by Bryden Southwell, Luke Malcolm and Pack siblings, Jhy and Montana. These drivers have been at the front of the new star field all season and will hope for a successful return this weekend. Looking to take it to the visiting drivers will be local trio of Alec, Taj and Connor Vanzetti.

Jake Avins, Blake Webb and Peter Katona will enter this weekend’s event as the early favourites in the Top Star field after a strong first half of the season. A noticeable absence from this weekend’s line up is Kalgoorlie’s Jacob Potts, who has other commitments that he must attend. Series regulars Jackson Derrick, Chantelle Bate, Brooke Watson and Seth Hinsey will also be hoping to gain some valuable series points on their rivals as we enter the second half of the season.

Moora racers of Jess Staines and Ebony Does will look to use their track knowledge to move to the front of the quality field, as will midwest racers Ashley and Mitchell Baker and Jack Dalton. Stefani and Corey Ameduri will also be hoping for a strong outing in their Hyundai Excels this weekend at the Central Midlands venue.

Be sure to head to the Perth Motorplex on Friday night for Round 4 of the JSRA Metropolitan Junior Sedan Series and Moora Speedway on Saturday night for the True Value Hardware Moora Round 5 of the JSRA Country Super Series from 6pm.

Team Australia Released

jsra-logo-transThe Junior Speedway Racing Association is pleased to announce the 2017 Team Australia that will head to New Zealand to take on the best Ministock racers in just under two weeks time.

The team will be captained by Kalgoorlie’s Jacob Potts and Geraldton’s Jayke Malcolm, two of the most experienced drivers on the team, who have had some great results on home turf so far this season. The pair have visited New Zealand previously and will no doubt share their knowledge of the Ministocks to the new members of the team.

The Fraser family have made the trip across the ditch on numerous occasions and will be represented by Bronty, Alex and Tyler Fraser for this years trip. Bronty’s older brother Josh is one of the most experienced members of past teams and will no doubt share his trade secrets with Bronty before they leave Perth.

Alex Fraser will take his place in the team for the first weekend of racing from February 24-26. Unfortunately, he will be unable to race the second weekend, as he has a birthday between the events and will exceed age restrictions. This means younger brother Tyler will get the call up and will take his spot on the team.

Jasmine Arnold will fill the position left vacant by older brother Isaac who is unable to race due to age restrictions. This will be a great experience for Jasmine, who despite the fact is only at the beginning of her racing career has shown great promise this season.

The final member of Team Australia for this year will be filled by Bullsbrook’s Jackson Derrick, who is very excited to make the trip for the first time. Jackson has had some great results so far this season and will be hoping to gain some valuable experience from his first trip to New Zealand.

The Team will depart Perth on Thursday February 23rd and will race the following two weekends before returning to home soil ahead of Round 6 of the JSRA Country Super Series at Quit Collie Speedway on March 11th.

All the latest information on Team Australia will be posted on the JSRA Facebook page, so be sure to like and follow this during the trip.
