Murray Herbert Christmas Cup to Webb and Southwell

shannons-fast-racing-series-logoBlake Webb and Bryden Southwell have last night claimed the 2016/2017 Murray Herbert Christmas Cup at the Perth Motorplex.

The event doubled as Round 3 of the JSRA Metropolitan Series and yet again saw some fantastic racing from the Junior Sedans. A quality field of 8 Top Star Juniors raced hard for positions throughout the three heat races, with Blake Webb proving too strong in all three. The fight behind him was very close with Stefani Ameduri, Jackson Derrick figuring prominently.

When it came to the feature race, Webb got away to a handy lead, however as the laps continued to wind down, Ameduri started to apply the pressure and soon took the lead of the race. Jackson Derrick continued to work his way through the field, as did Alex Swift who worked his way up to fourth position, fighting with Izak Davies.

When the checkered flag flew, Stefani Ameduri was first across the line ahead of Blake Webb and Jackson Derrick. Luckily for Webb, his three heat race victories earlier in the night was enough to give him top points on the night and Murray Herbert Christmas Cup.

In the New Star division, Bryden Southwell once again started the night in the best possible way, winning each of the heat races, which he then continued by winning the feature race. Tia Wormall followed behind in second and continues to gain valuable track time, with Jade McKeagg finishing third. Southwell scored the most possible points and walked away with the Murray Herbert Christmas Cup also.

A big thank you to the Perth Motorplex for their continued support of the JSRA and their valued sponsors Shannons and Ellement Produce for getting behind the Fast Racing Series and Junior Sedans throughout 2016/2017.

The JSRA now takes a break over the festive season and throughout the month of January to allow our members to compete in the National Junior Sedan Title at Borderline Speedway Mount Gambier, followed by the Victorian Junior Sedan Title at Swanhill the next after. The West Australian Junior Sedan Title will then take place at Quit Bunbury Speedway across the weekend of January 27-29.

We would also like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happiest of New Years and look forward to a successful 2017.

Ameduri and Southwell Triumph

jsra-country-super-series-r4Ellenbrook’s Stefani Ameduri has won an action packed Round 4 of the JSRA Country Super Series supported by Hamon Tyre and Exhaust Centre at Quit Bunbury Speedway last night, as did Bryden Southwell in the New Star division.

With close to 40 Juniors sedans across both divisions, the night promised to be an entertaining one and that it was. From the first green flag, the New Star juniors were all out looking for a successful night. Bryden Southwell, Luke Malcolm and Jhy Pack were very quick, as Montana Pack and Bunbury’s Matthew Thomson gained speed with each race.

Bryden Southwell, Luke Malcolm and Montana Pack would share wins in each of the qualifying heats, though it was clear the 15 lap feature race would go down to the wire to decide the winner.

Luke Malcolm and Bryden Southwell made the best of the start in the feature race for the night and ran side by side for a number of laps. Montana Pack moved her way through the field passed her brother Jhy and Matthew Thomson. Bryden Southwell soon moved clearly into the lead, with the rest of the field chasing hard and fighting it out for the minor places.

With the laps winding down, Luke Malcolm, Montana Pack and Matthew Thomson fought hard for second through to fourth position, as Jhy Pack and Kalgoorlie’s Lachlan Dellar raced behind. Bryden Southwell would prove too strong yet again this season to record his third round victory of the 2016/2017 JSRA Country Super Series. Luke Malcolm would finish second, with Matthew Thomson getting ahead of Montana Pack on the last lap.

New Star Junior Sedan Final: 1. W63 Bryden Southwell, 2. W22 Luke Malcolm, 3. W15 Matthew Thomson, 4. W78 Montana Pack, 5. W98 Jhy Pack, 6. W95 Lachlan Dellar, 7. W8 Brody Day, 8. W66 Possum Lawrence, 9. W122 Dean Schofield

With three qualifying heats per round, the racing in the Top Stars was set at a high pace, with many drivers racing two, three and even four wide on a number of occasions. Izak Davies’ night would come to a premature end in his first heat of the night, getting on two wheels before rolling onto Rahni Musarra’s car.  Dylan Parkes, Jake Avins and Stefani Ameduri would win the first three heats, while Peter Katona would prove too strong in heat four of the night.

Avins and Stefani Ameduri would record their second heat victories of the night, before Jayke Malcolm and Izzac Delaporte added their names to the winners list. Jake Avins would win his last heat of the night, going through undefeated and earning himself a pole position start for the 20 lap feature.

A constellation race was held for the drivers that did not qualify in the top 20, with Tylar Main proving too strong for Daniel Erceg and Geraldton’s Mitchell Baker.

With 20 laps ahead of the 20 car feature field, the angry pack headed into into turns 1 and 2, with many drivers racing two and three wide. Stefani Ameduri would take the lead in the early proceedings, with Jake Avins, Jacob Potts and Jayke Malcolm racing in close proximity for many laps. Further back in the field Jorj Park started to make his charge through the field, as many drivers raced hard for the minor positions.

The yellow lights would soon come on with Alex Fraser facing the wrong way in turn 4. At this point Jayke Malcolm would be relegated 2 positions for jumping the start. When the green flag flew again, the race was again held at a quick pace with Jake Avins and Jacob Potts racing side by side chasing down the leader in Ameduri.

Trouble would soon hit, when Jacob Potts would have one of the biggest Junior Sedans rollovers seen in quite some time, ending his night. Jacob was able to walk away with some bruising and a minor cut, while his car was left all but destroyed. Jayke Malcolm would be forced to retire also sustaining damage while avoiding a rolling Potts.

After a small delay to clear the damaged car, the field got back underway, with Ameduri continuing to lead from Jake Avins and Jorj Park. Kalgoorlie’s Dylan Parkes started to make his way through the field, as Jaymee Park retired from the event along with Corey Ameduri.

In the concluding stages of the race, Jake Avins started to chase down Stefani Ameduri, as Jorj Park applied the pressure to Avins, with Dylan Parkes racing hard also. Alex Fraser would find himself facing the wrong way in turn 2, which would see the yellow lights come on. Fraser would retire from the event at this point also.

Jake Avins would make a great restart and looked for a pass on Stefani Ameduri, as Jorj Park, Dylan Parkes and Izzac Delaporte raced hard for the minor places. The top five drivers raced hard on the final lap of the race, though Stefani Ameduri proved too strong in her new Hyundai Excel finishing ahead of Jorj Park, Jake Avins and Izzac Delaporte.

Top Star Junior Sedan Final: 1. W83 Stefani Ameduri, 2. W74 Jorj Park, 3. W11 Jake Avins, 4. W88 Izzac Delaporte, 5. W3 Dylan Parkes, 6. W108 Blake Webb, 7. W06 Peter Katona, 8. W10 Ashley Baker, 9. Big Fields for Bunbury

jsra-country-super-series-r4The 2016/2017 JSRA Country Super Series fires back into action this weekend at Quit Bunbury Speedway for the Hamon Tyre and Exhaust Centre sponsored fourth round of the highly competitive series.

Some of the best Junior Sedan competitors in Australia will head to Bunbury, not only in search for a JSRA Round victory, but will also be looking to take out the Auto One Junior Cup. As the WA Junior Sedan Title will be held at the same venue in late January, it will prove to be a great opportunity to get some practice in ahead of this event.

A field of nine New Stars have entered with Bryden Southwell and Luke Malcolm headlining the list having both taken out rounds of the series so far this season. They will have Jhy and Montana Pack chasing at their tails, both of which will be looking for a round victory for the first time this season.

Brody Day will make the trip from Narrogin, while Isabella Freeland will come from Manjimup for the event and will be against some stiff competition with the likes of Lachlan Dellar, Dean Schofield and Erin Fraser.

A high quality field of thirty Top Star Juniors have nominated for this weekend, which will give many of them a chance to refine their cars ahead of the upcoming National Title at Borderline Speedway in Mount Gambier in South Australia and the WA State Title in Bunbury.

Jake Avins, who has won two of the three rounds so far this season is in fantastic form and will look to continue this on Saturday night, though will have Jacob Potts, Blake Webb, Jackson Derrick and Jorj Park chasing him down. Come the end of the night, either of these drivers could be at the pointy end, though they will be under series pressure from a stack of JSRA series regulars including Alex Fraser, Peter Katona, Jayke Malcolm or Izak Davies. Izzac Delaporte will head the charge of the locals and will be looking for success on his home track this weekend.

Racing gets underway from 6pm on Saturday night, with live results being posted on the JSRA Facebook page and website (jsrawa.com).

A big thank you must go to Mick and Teash from Hamon Tyre and Exhaust Centre for their support of the JSRA this season and tonight, as sponsors of the fourth Round of the JSRA Country Super Series.
